A Brief Overview Of The Top Caribbean Medical Schools

If you are interested in going to medical school, and you are interested in a more affordable options than traditional medical schools, then there are some things that you may want to know. Caribbean medical schools offer more alternatives for education when it comes to individuals who do not have a lot of money. They also service students who have low GPAs or do not interview well with admissions boards to find an avenue to getting their medical degree. While this may sound a little out of the ordinary, many people chose to go the route of Caribbean medical schools to get their medical degree.

If you have made the decision to go to one of the many Caribbean medical schools for your medical degree you will need to know what of these schools has the best reputation. Of those schools the Ross School Of Medicine, American University Of the Caribbean, and St George University all have outstanding reputations. With annual tuition rates varying from $14,000 per year to upwards to $32,000 the cost of attending these schools will likely fit any budget and are much more affordable than schools in the US. In addition, many of these schools have three separate admission dates as opposed to U.S. medical schools with just one. It is also worth noting that these three universities all have English as the language in which the classes are taught. That will help avoid having to get over any potential language barriers.

There is also the question of accreditation when talking about Caribbean medical schools. Not all schools are accredited and it is wise to look into that before you decide on which school to attend. It would be unfortunate for you to get a medical degree in hopes of practicing in the states only to find your school was not accredited and your degree is be worthless. While the schools mentioned above all carry accreditation, certain states like Florida, New York, New Jersey, and California all review Caribbean medical schools on an individual basis. It is best to also know where you might like to practice before paying any application of tuition money to Caribbean medical schools.

It is true that Caribbean medical schools are easier to get into than your typical American or Canadian medical school, there is also little doubt that many qualified and well trained doctors come out of these schools. There are a few things you need to look out for, but if you do a little homework, and make the right choices, you can be on your way to a medical degree in no time.

Medical School Equipment Has Changed Over Time

By Jane Worthington
It's amazing to think of the things we do today, without a second thought, as being nonexistent a few hundred years ago, if not less. What if we didn't have medical school equipment? Our doctors would be schooled entirely by books, and not at all with hands on practice in the lab, x-ray division, or surgical areas.

I knew there were off-shore schools but I never knew where they were. A friend of mine pointed me here to this page and I'm glad he did, this will help me spark off my research, my grades are good my ducks are in a row but I just don't want to stress about acceptance so this is a great way to go I think.

I left a comment on another page but I wanted to leave one here too. I like what you said about the 2.0 medical school thing but after reading this I'm thinking more about offshore schools as there is less competition and grades are not always a factor so long as you have 2.5 and above. There is acutally a lot of good information on carribean schools, I never would have thought to check there, thank you for throwing me a bone here!
