Stanford Medical School, also known as Stanford University School of Medicine is located in Stanford, California. It is considered to be a leader in the medical school field. This is, in large part, due to the fact that it is a research intensive facility that is known for using collaboration to make discoveries in the health care field to improve the quality of life for the human race.

 

Brief History of the School

 

What is now known as Stanford Medical School was originally based in San Francisco, California. It was operating under the name Cooper Medical College when it was adopted by Stanford as its own affiliated medical institution in 1908. In 1959, the medical school was relocated and, since then, has continued to grow as an international leader in the field of medicine.

 

Requirements for Admission

 

The admission process to Stanford Medical School is extremely competitive. There is a very minimal 3.1% acceptance rate, which is the second lowest among United States medical schools.

In order to be considered for admission to the Stanford Medical School, applicants must have completed an undergraduate degree at an accredited college or university.
